FIELD MANUAL — ENDINGS
RESIDENT EVIL REQUIEM ENDINGS
Two Resident Evil Requiem endings, one decision. The campaign splits on a single late-game call Grace Ashcroft makes at Elpis — this field manual maps the branch, keeps both breakdowns folded behind spoiler warnings and cites every claim.
This page covers the end of Requiem's campaign. The choice framework below is written spoiler-free; the two ending breakdowns and the FAQ details are folded for a reason. Open them only if you are ready to be told how it ends.
| Ending | Trophy | Set by | Breakdown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hope | Hope and Requiem + Grace's Report | One decision: what Grace does with Elpis, endgame | Section 03 (folded) |
| Destruction | None | Section 03 (folded) |
Resident Evil Requiem has two endings — Destruction and Hope. Both hang on one endgame decision about Elpis; the Hope ending carries the trophy, Destruction carries none, and a finished bad run can be reloaded from the main menu to take the other road.
Ending structure, trophy split and the autosave reload per GameSpot's endings explainer (Jason Rodriguez, February 26, 2026), credited in full below. "Endgame" means the final stretch of the campaign, after the last ARK chapter opens up.
SECTION 01
01How Many Endings Are There in Resident Evil Requiem?
Two. Resident Evil Requiem ships exactly two endings — Destruction and Hope — and a single decision separates them: what Grace does with Elpis in the campaign's final act (GameSpot). Search "how many endings Requiem has" and you will find forum threads arguing for hidden third variants; none are documented in the sources we checked.
The two names are the labels the coverage settled on, and they do the describing for you: Destruction is the bad ending, the one GameSpot's walkthrough lands on when the Elpis decision goes the other way; Hope is the good ending, the one with the trophy attached (GameSpot). Neither name is spoken inside the game itself — the credits simply roll one way or the other — so this page uses the community labels throughout.
- One branch, one moment. Nothing earlier in the run is documented as changing the outcome — the divergence is the endgame decision over Elpis (GameSpot).
- The game does not label the branch. There is no "choose your ending" banner. It plays like any other beat until the credits settle which road you took.
- Both endings live on one save. Land the wrong one and the main menu routes you back to the decision — how that works is in Section 02.
- The trophy only goes one way. The Hope ending nets the Hope and Requiem trophy and unlocks Grace's Report in the menu; Destruction ends the run clean of both (GameSpot).
If you would rather watch than read, the MKIceAndFire full-game walkthrough on our Videos page covers the entire campaign including both endings — commentary-free, spoilers guaranteed. Context on the game itself, from release detail to story setup, lives in our Resident Evil Requiem hub.
SECTION 02
02The Choice at Elpis — Where the Branch Happens
Requiem's good ending choice is made at Elpis, in the final stretch of the campaign. The game does put the fork in front of you — but it never tells you the fork decides the ending. No warning, no save reminder, no "this choice matters." You confirm, the campaign plays out, and the credits settle which road you took. That is the whole trap, and the reason to walk in prepared:
- Save first. Keep a manual save before Leon rides the elevator in the Bioweapon Repository / B4 Staff Room — the campaign's last point of no return (GameSpot). The built-in fallback is unreliable in one direction; the manual save is the insurance that always works (see the plan below).
- What the choice is, spoiler-free: in the ARK's central chamber, Grace types the password into the Elpis terminal and the game asks one question — What does the creator desire? — with two options: Destroy Elpis or Release Elpis. Pick one; the game asks if you're 100% certain before it commits (GameSpot). What each option leads to is folded in Section 03.
- Wrong side? Finish on the Destruction path and the main menu prompts you to reload the system autosave and go back in (GameSpot). One reload, not one replay.
Practical read: there is no punishment for guessing. The cost of seeing both endings is one reload from the main menu, so take the run as it comes — then take the other road. If you are still mid-campaign rather than endgame-adjacent, the safe codes guide and the Requiem guides hub will get you through the earlier floors first.
The clean sequence, endgame onward: manual save before the elevator → ride it out to the Elpis terminal → take either option and finish the campaign. After Destruction, the main menu offers a reload of the system autosave back to the decision (GameSpot). After Hope, that prompt may not appear — you're already on the good ending — so to see Destruction too, reload your own manual save instead (GameSpot). Both endings, one campaign, no second playthrough; trophy runs take the flagged ending last.
SECTION 03
03Both Endings, Explained — Folded, Spoilers Inside
Both breakdowns sit behind folds. Open only what you are willing to learn. The mechanical part stays out here because it is not a story spoiler: Hope nets the Hope and Requiem trophy plus Grace's Report; Destruction has neither. A trophy-completion run therefore takes Destruction first, reloads from the main menu, then takes Hope second.
The Hope Ending (good)
Spoiler: the Hope ending, explained
Elpis turns out to be an antiviral serum — a cure to the ills brought about by Umbrella and the bioweapon trade. Grace administers it to Leon, who regains his strength — the choice the ending is built around. Zeno takes the decision badly, and Victor Gideon arrives on the scene, calls Zeno a cheap imitation and slices off his head, setting up the campaign's true final fight: Leon versus Victor, a Nemesis-variant battle in two phases, ended by Leon blasting Victor's core with the Requiem (GameSpot).
The epilogue is the fuller one, too: the Hound Wolf Squad extracts them, and Grace ends the campaign as Emily's guardian. This is the ending GameSpot categorises as the good one, and it carries the Hope and Requiem trophy plus the Grace's Report menu unlock. If you want the fuller final act on your own screen, this is the road to take first on a second pass — or first, if you would rather not sit through the bad one at all.
The Victor fight itself has its own file: counters for both phases are in our Resident Evil Requiem boss guide.
The Destruction Ending (bad)
Spoiler: the Destruction ending, explained
Zeno — a Wesker mimic in part — kills Leon. Grace escapes the ARK facility as it comes down around her, and the credits roll on a run that lost more than it saved (GameSpot).
No trophy waits on this side. What does wait is the exit: back at the main menu, the game prompts you to reload the system autosave and take the decision again (GameSpot). Treat Destruction as the draft, not the record.
One more thing worth filing: the branch has nothing to do with difficulty. If Insanity is your next stop after the credits, everything that actually changes on that setting is covered in our Insanity difficulty guide.
QUICK ANSWERS
04Resident Evil Requiem Endings FAQ
Which Resident Evil Requiem ending is canon?
No source we checked labels either ending canon. GameSpot categorises Hope as the good ending: it nets the Hope and Requiem trophy, unlocks Grace's Report and runs the fuller epilogue. That is intent, not canon confirmation — we will update this page if a developer statement settles it.
Can you get both endings in Resident Evil Requiem?
Yes, on one save — but the safety net is one-directional. After the Destruction ending, the game offers to reload your autosave straight back at the decision (GameSpot). After the Hope ending, that offer may not appear, since you are already on the good ending (GameSpot) — so the reliable route back to the fork is a manual save made before the choice.
Do I need to replay the whole game to see the other ending?
No. The post-Destruction reload drops you straight back at the Elpis terminal — that is the point of the menu prompt (GameSpot). The manual save from before the B4 elevator does the same job from either side of the branch, and it does not depend on the menu flow at all.
Does the Elpis choice affect anything besides the ending?
The ending sequence itself, plus one exclusive unlock: Hope nets the Hope and Requiem trophy and Grace's Report; Destruction nets neither (GameSpot). The rest of the completion unlocks — Insanity mode, the Behind the Scenes video, models, costumes, cheats — become available regardless of which ending you got. If you are chasing a complete file, the collectibles guide tracks the sets that carry across playthroughs.
Where can I watch both Requiem endings without playing?
The MKIceAndFire full-game walkthrough on our Videos page covers the whole campaign including both endings, no commentary. Full spoilers from the first frame — open it after the credits, not before.
